Hey, a comeback player since 2012, and yes, there is a huge problem on low ladders rank. And talking in the chat with a smurf player, "academy student" rank but with Edo Tensei characters, he told me they reset the ladder to get more points at the end of the rank and just for fun, to overwin new players.
So... maybe is not only the game, is more like the players make toxic plays and the game allows these tricks.
It's really annoying trying to get higher ranks to unlock new missions. The developpers should implement new state of ranks, based on your total wins or number of characters unlocked.

While I do think it would be healthy for the game to lock characters based on your current level (so resetting means you have to become a Sannin again before you can use Sannin-level characters), but at least in theory, it's not meant to be an advantage.

The starter characters are actually already strong, so it is possible to make a good team using only the first page.
